Learning the advanced technique of rounding prepares the body and mind to dive deeper inside meditation. Here we unwind more layers of stress and continue to stabilize bliss in the waking state.
Rounding supercharges your meditation practice, setting you up to squeeze a little more joy out of each experience this wonderful life has to offer.
What is a round?
A round combines specific yoga asana, pranayama and meditation. A true master of ancient Vedic knowledge, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi developed rounding with a view to provide an extended, deeper meditation practice. He then passed it on to my teacher, Thom Knoles.
Why Round?
In its most traditional sense Yoga Asana is a preparation for meditation and so is the breathing technique 'Pranayama'.
The advanced technique of rounding utilises a very specific set of yoga asana and pranayama to prepare the body and mind for deep meditation, allowing us to dive deep and let go of more stress. This process leaves us blissful and calm, and is an important step on our journey to equanimity and enlightenment.
Rounding is a very gentle practice, it has a calming effect on the nervous system and deepens the sensation of contentedness.
